An Update From Our Trail Crew
Our fearless trail crew leader, Galen headed out to work in the hot sun all day.
First off…We want to thank our crew for all of the hard work they’ve been putting in on our local multi-use trails! Here is a little update from our lead trail crew, Galen:
One month in and we have a new trail in the Mosquito Creek Trail System. It's hand built, but brushed as wide as the Crankshaft trail. Only in the trees does it get narrow, which was on purpose. We still don't have a name for it, and it will be labeled double black diamond for how challenging it is.
Monday, July 10, 2023 - The crew got bogged down benching in and sculpting the start of the new trail. The digging was necessary and the trail rides better for it.
Tuesday - 8 hours on the end of a weed eater will make your arms go numb.
Wednesday - More weed eating today as we didn't get enough yesterday. Completed the job and it turned out way better than the first edition of the trail installation.
Thursday - We did a lot of different things on Thursday: some digging, cleared the new downfall on Crankshaft, a bit of noxious weed mitigation and flagging the west section of the next new loop with less distance between flags.
Friday - Flagged the East section of the next new loop and got a second opinion with some constructive ideas for how to make it more challenging.
Next week's plan is to start the installation of the second inner loop trail. I'm excited for this, especially since I haven't walked the flag line yet. Should be a rewarding week!
The first new trail in Mosquito is now open! This trail is geared to be more advanced than Crankshaft in order to give Mosquito Creek riders more diversity in trail riding!
